2024 Kia Sorento X-Pro SX-Prestige 2.5 AWD - It's a nice ride

Before getting to this 2024 Kia Sorento I have to clear up something. In my recent review of the Kia Carnival I mentioned that I could not find the sound system controls. It seems my memory failed me because a friend told me where they were a couple of months ago, and then a Kia rep had to remind me. Yes the controls are kind of hidden but once you get used to them it is easy. Below are two pictures of the control panel. In the first one you can see that the control is for the HVAC system. You can also see a little arrow.

If you push that arrow it toggles the display to the sound system controls.

I apologize for my memory lapse.

Now back to our regularly scheduled program.

It may seem odd that I tested a 2024 Sorento when I previously wrote up a 2025 model. The 2025 was a hybrid, this is not. Otherwise they are very similar.

The difference is under the hood. The X-Pro SX-Prestige has a 2.5-liter, 281-hp, turbocharged 4-cylinder. It powers all four wheels through an 8-speed dual clutch transmission. According to Kia it will do 0-100 kph (62 mph) in 7.5 seconds. More importantly it is rated at 20-mpg around town, and 27-mpg on the highway. It will tow up to 3,500 lbs.

This Sorento has 3 seating rows and will seat 7 people. With the third row upright there isn't that much storage, 12.6 cubic feet. Fold them down and it increases up to 45 cubic feet.

If fuel economy is your biggest opt for the hybrid; if you want some with a more oomph the X-Pro SX-Prestige is for you.

The X-Pro SX-Prestige AWD starts at $47,390. It is a lot of car for the price. You can get a 2025 Sorento starting at $27,190 for a FWD, non-turbo LXS. The choice is yours. Check one out at your local Kia dealer.
