2024 Lexus RX 450h+ Luxury - A good choice for a luxury SUV
![]() |
Picture courtesy of Lexus I just spent a week in a 2024 Lexus RX 450h+ Luxury, and it was an enjoyable week. For some reason I kept putting off taking pictures of it so the ones I'm using all are courtesy of Lexus. Also because this is a 2024 model, even though it is nearing the end of October and many 2025s are on sale, this will be a brief article. The 450h+ is a PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle). It only has 37 miles of pure electric running maximum. That should not deter you. That 37 miles will do just fine around town. In fact I have a friend whose wife has a plug-in hybrid that she drives to work every day, plugs it in (on 120v) every night, and rarely has to buy gasoline. If she wants to go on a trip it can run mainly on the gasoline engine. So it's an EV around town and an ICE (internal combustion engine) on trips. Seems reasonable to me. Power for the RX 450h+ Luxury is provided by a gasoline 2.5-liter, 4-cylinder, and two electric motors for a combined power output of 304 hp. The transmission is a CVT. Fuel economy is rated at 36-mpg city, and 33-mpg highway - the city rating is high because you're using the electric motors a lot of the time. I drove the '24 RX 450h+ Luxury from my house to the Dream Inn in Santa Cruz, a distance of just about 90 miles. I couldn't have had a nicer ride. The Mark Levinson 21-speaker, 1,800 watt sound system made the RX 450h+ Luxury like a concert hall on wheels. Music is music to my ears on a trip. You can tow up to 3,494 lbs. with trailer brakes with the RX 450h+ Luxury. There are many vehicles in the luxury niche, and many are very good. Lexus has a long reputation for excellence. If you're in the market you owe it to yourself to test a Lexus. The Lexus 2024 RX 50h+ Luxury starts at $70,580. Check it out at lexus.com |
