2024 Genesis Electrified GV70 AWD Prestige - I coulda had a Twin Turbo V6, or even a Turbo 4!
You know what I really hate? I hate it when I get a very nice car for a week and it's an EV. Especially when it's an expensive EV (and most of them are).
Please don't take offense Genesis. Genesis makes some of the nicest luxury cars on the planet. Really. And I really, really like the GV70. Gosh it is nice.
If I were to buy an EV, and that is a big IF, it would be something smallish, something to run around town in, something I didn't worry about running of of juice in because I would never exceed its range.
The Genesis GV70 is a perfect, no a great, car for a trip. A trip where you don't have to stop every 200 miles (Genesis says the Electrified GV70 has a range of 236 miles) to recharge. Even the 375 hp twin turbo V6 will take you at least 300 miles between fillups and it will only take you a few minutes. That is the end of today's rant about EVs.
The only gripe I have that can't be fixed by checking a different box on the order form are these two knobs. The lower one is the gear shift, the upper one is a multi-function thing. In one week I must have twisted the top one a dozen times trying to find Drive after backing out of my driveway or a parking spot. A nice shift lever would solve that problem.
Genesis thinks Glacier White Two-Tone is a perfectly acceptable color for the interior. The only option is Black Mono - go with it or learn to accept an interior that shows all the grime in our every day lives.
The interior appointments are gorgeous and comfortable. These are seats built for trips.
I am more of a sedan guy but the GV70 could change my mind about SUVs, and I do appreciate how easy it is to get into a SUV like the GV70.
There is 28.7 cubic feet of storage behind the middle seats. That should be more than enough for luggage. Fold the middle seats down and that goes up to 56.5 cu. ft.
I drove a 2024 with a gorgeous "Cardiff Green" exterior paint. Alas I don't see it listed for the 2025 model. A base, and the base is very nice, Electrified GV70 starts at $67,600. A Prestige like I tested is $73,750. Prices are from genesis.com.
It's your decision whether to go electric or not. If I had the bucks I'd go with the Twin-Turbo V6.
