2024 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance

Another year, another Monterey Car Week is over. I only attended one event this year - the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, one of the finest Concours in the world and definitely the crown jewel of North American shows.

As I drove to the remote parking areas around 9 a.m. I was confused because traffic was light. By the time I got my stuff together and walked to the shuttle pickup spot there was an epic traffic jam!

When I left (early) there were still droves of people coming into the event. The weather was great - sunny and warm - and the people all seemed to be having a great time. A lot of women dressed for the event; period styles and such.

I didn't take as many pictures as I have in the past; not that all the cars weren't great (they always are) but these are the ones that spoke to me.

THE BEST OF SHOW WINNER OF THE 73RD PEBBLE BEACH CONCOURS D'ELEGANCE IS 1934 BUGATTI TYPE 59 SPORTS.

Photo and description below courtesy of Pebble Beach.

"This year, 214 cars from 16 countries and 29 states pulled onto the competition field, and the car named Best of Show was a 1934 Bugatti Type 59 Sports presented by Fritz Burkard of The Pearl Collection in Zug, Switzerland."

I have to thank Pebble Beach for allowing me to attend year after year. Someone asked me how long I've been attending and I think it is since 1997. Maybe twenty-five years total, I know I've missed a couple. The very first year I bluffed my way in! A PR guy for an auto company said "If you're at Pebble come to our hospitality area." I took that as an invite to the event and somehow convinced the people at that entrance that they should let me in. Security was pretty lax back then.

I keep saying this, and I will until I'm dead, if you can scrape together the money, you owe it to yourself to attend the Pebble Beach Councours d'Elegance.
