2023 Genesis G80 Electrified - A beautiful, comfortable, clean automobile.

I drove a G80 back in the summer of 2022 and I loved it. My feelings for the G80 have not changed. Genesis builds excellent cars.

The biggest difference between the G80 and the G80 Electrified is, you guessed it, the Electrified is all electric. The looks are just about the same, the comfort is the same. In fact the Genesis G80 Electrified is the best riding EV I have drive.

If you read my stuff you know I'm not a fan of white interiors. I have nothing against the color white except it shows dirt so readily. Luckily there are two other choices for the interior - Two-tone Brown, and Black.

The seats bridge the too-cushy of old American cars and the firmness of some European cars. For me the comfort and support was just right. The Nappa leather seats accommodate five adults; two upfront and three in the rear.

Okay so the rear seat really is better for two but five will fit.

Performance is good but that really isn't the point of a car like the G80, electric or otherwise. If you need to know the 5,000 lb. G80 Electrified hits 60 mph from dead stop in just over 4 seconds. But the most important spec of an electric vehicle is its range and the G80 has, according to Genesis, a range of 282 miles. That's decent.

The G80 Electified is all-wheel-drive with a total motor output of 272 kW (365 hp) split evenly 136 kW front and rear.

The charge port is hidden into the front grille that is only a grille in appearance; it is totally blanked off.

The only hiccup I could find were the two round controls on the console. One is the shift knob, the other controls among other things the sound system station. More than once I accidently changed the station instead of shifting from Reverse to Drive.

Trunk space is down from the 13.1 cubic feet of the gas engine G80 to 10.8 for the Electrified.

The 2023 Genesis G80 Electrified starts at $79,825. A G80 with a 2.5-liter gas engine starts at $54,150, opt for the twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 and that goes to $64,000. The choice is yours.
