Darn Close

A chart in this week's Automotive News (January 7, 2013) compares the auto companies forecasts for 2012  sales with the reality. Most companies got it pretty darn close. Overall the reality beat the forecasts - 14,403,663 cars were sold versus a forecast of 14,277,200.

I won't go through the whole chart, you have to get a copy of the Automotive News for that, but I'm impressed with the auto companies' ability to nail it. I am also impressed with the number of cars sold. We're not back to the highs of a few years ago but pretty impressive for an economy that is still recovering. Chalk it up to pent up demand, great cars and reasonable prices.
