MONTEREY, Calif., June 30, 2011 — Race car drivers will take to the track early – on bicycles – to kick-off the Continental Tire Sports Car Festival, Powered by Mazda. Some may be using this as an opportunity to test out the 2.238-mile course on two wheels before they speed it up a bit on four.

Race Car Drivers Take to Two Wheels for Twilight Ride Fundraiser Raceway’s Monthly Ride Includes Grand Am Series Drivers
MONTEREY, Calif., June 30, 2011 — Race car drivers will take to the track early – on bicycles – to kick-off the Continental Tire Sports Car Festival, Powered by Mazda. Some may be using this as an opportunity to test out the 2.238-mile course on two wheels before they speed it up a bit on four.
The Twilight Ride will take place on Thursday July 7 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. on the world-renowned circuit and fans are invited to join them. The ride is free to all Continental Tire Sports Car Festival, Powered by Mazda ticket holders and $10 to all other participants. All proceeds will be donated to charity.
Bicycle riders can experience the thrill of pedaling Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca as the race track includes a challenging 300-foot climb and an awe-inspiring descent down the world-famous Corkscrew.
Tentatively scheduled to ride is the Freedom Autosport Mazda Continental Tire Series team (Brad Rampelberg, Sam Barnett, Tom Long and Rhett Odoski), Team Sahlen (Will Nonnamaker), Dempsey Racing (Patrick Dempsey) and special guest, New York Jets Kicker, Nick Folk.
