Like a Butterfly, General Motors emerges from BK
Yup, GM announced today that it has emerged from bankruptcy. The King is dead, Long live the King!
Wait a second here; it sure looks like the same old GM to me. Same players, just a different Board of Directors. My god they are even going to keep Robert Lutz on - the man is 77 years old! It is said that Lutz will have creative oversight of marketing, product design, and communication of GM's image to consumers. So let me get this straight, a guy who's claims to fame include the portly GTO reincarnation, the Pontiac Solstice (the car without storage and the weirdest operating convertible top), and chrome tailpipe tips, the guy when confronted with criticism of GM cars belittles the criticizer, the guy who thinks a "youngster" is someone 45, this is the guy who is going to be over-seeing the "new" GM's designs and marketing? That's good news for us old farts who drool over reconstituted muscle cars, but how is that going to equate into sales to anyone under the age of 30?
See ya later Government Motors.
